The Battle of Leicester Square

In 2022 Jesus Street went to Leicester Square for the first time with our evangelists brothers and sisters from Revival UK to evangelise and bring some light to the area.

The day was going well, many people were being ministered to and I prayed for a man who was having demonic attacks that were affecting his life and sleep.

After the prayer, he said the they have gone (demons). Praise God, I am still in contact with him today. However, I will never forget what took place a short while after.

A young man approached us requesting prayer, he informed us that he was addicted to a drug called Spice. We brought him outside an unused shop and I asked him if he was willing to renounce and denounce this drug induced lifestyle as well as asking God for forgiveness. He replied, yes, and renounced and denounced that life.

We began casting the spirit out of him and to our astonishment, his face became distorted. His voice became coarse, harsh and very demonic.

The demon spoke through him and said to us, ‘‘I am strong and I won’t be leaving this man!’’

This made me angry - who did this demon think it was?
I remember saying to this evil spirit, ‘‘You will come out! The name of Jesus is stronger than you!’’

Everyone was praying, I don’t remember what others were saying. I commanded the evil spirit to come out of him.
He screamed loudly and started loudly banging the nearby shop window and the floor.
The demon continued to refuse to leave and repeated the same statement,
‘‘I am strong and I will not be leaving this man!’’

I was willing to spend all night to cast out this demon if need be as I was determined to see this man get set free.

I declared to the evil spirit, ‘‘Come out of his mouth! I declare the fire of the Holy Spirit shall burn you and the blood of Jesus is against you! Out you go in Jesus’ name!’’

The man held his throat and screamed so loudly, banging on the shop front continuously with the palms of his hands.

By this time, a small crowd had begun forming and shouting at us to leave him alone.

We continuously told them that we were not causing him any harm and that we were not touching him and that he had requested prayer.

This battle with this evil spirit went on for 10-15 minutes but the crowd were relentless. Whilst we were speaking to this crowd, the demon saw an opportunity to escape and the man ran off.

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. It took me a while to get over that incident as I knew this man’s deliverance was so close. I could see the evil spirit begin to weaken.

I learnt a valuable lesson that day. I will not allow anyone to distract me during deliverance and that deliverance is best done behind closed doors.

I honestly believe that the evil spirit was able to influence the crowd against us in order to plan its escape. I do pray that this young man will finally receive deliverance and if not, then God will allow our paths to meet again.
